Description
A world of underwater stories
A world of sunken tales, stranded ships, and sea creatures sets the stage to transform Aquarama’s children’s pool into an immersive storytelling space. The water becomes a playground for exploring, climbing, and sliding, with each structure representing a part of the story: the pirate ship invites children to embark on imaginary voyages, while marine figures add movement, color, and a connection to the surrounding natural world.
Everything is designed to a child’s scale, striking a balance between free movement, shared play, and symbolic exploration — an experience where storytelling and action merge.
Project area
The intervention takes place in the park’s children’s pool, which is reimagined as a pirate cove with a marine atmosphere, climbable structures, and a variety of water play features. It’s an environment designed for young children, with shallow waters that encourage movement, independence, and group play.
Children’s pool – 508 m²
Recommended age: 4 to 10 years
Capacity: 40–45 children
The design features 50 play elements distributed across several interconnected zones under a single playful storyline. At the center, the pirate ship stands out with its slides, tipping buckets, and waterfalls. Around it, docks, bridges, sea animals, and interactive structures create a varied aquatic journey where every element inspires imagination, discovery, and collaboration. The space is conceived to foster symbolic play, independence, and motor coordination through active participation.
Childhood and play
Between the ages of 3 and 12, play evolves from exploration and make-believe to group games with shared rules. This stage blends imagination, movement, and social interaction. The Pirate Cove concept embraces this evolution with a diverse play space where every child can find their role, their way to move, and a new story to create.
